Water, heater, Replace, Cost, typical, SHUT

Question by ACtimes3: How do I shut off the water heater? What is the typical cost to replace one?

Our water heater flooded our garage. I am assuming it needs replacing. I shut off the water to the house and the pilot on the water heater, but how do I shut off the water going to the water heater? What is the typical cost to replace a water heater?

on top of there should be a valve connected by a pipe to the water main or water softener if you have one that is the supply to the water heater turn that off
cost depends on the size of the water heater and type gas is cheaper than electric
call you local home improvement store and ask them
