Question by AE: what is an interesting historical nonfiction book?
I have a digital book report to do and it has to be a nonfiction book. The requirements are it has to be historical but it can't be a biography or autobiography. I prefer books that have to do with the 1900's and up but I am open to all suggestions! Also it would be great if it was under 300 pages. Thanks!

The book that we were assigned over the summer was The Devil in the White City, by Eric Larson, which is pretty interesting. It's about the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893, and the serial killer that lurked there around the time. It's well-researched, but the chilling parts about the serial killer are obviously the author's own perception of what might have happened. I personally thought some of the parts were too loosely connected, but it's a bestseller and I didn't die of boredom or anything while reading it.
