Where to go for hiking and beach close to southern california?

My bf and I want to take a mini vacation but we're not sure where to go? We're looking to not spend a lot but this would also be our first time hiking so nothing too serious. We have to days free so looking for something adventurous to do.

Crystal Cove State Park has a nice beach and hiking trails. Their tide-pools are fun to check out and their rocky bluffs have some interesting patterns.

In northern San Diego County Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve has a nice beach and hiking trails. I went in the Spring when the hills were covered with wildflowers.

Since it's summertime bring a lot of water with you. When you only have half your water turn and go back. It's hot out on the hiking trails, even when they are close to the ocean. Most of the vegetation is dead right now, but if you live around here than you already know that. Wear shoes with nubby soles. Flat soled running shoes will cause you to slide on the steeper paths.
